Growing consumer demands for quality, aesthetic appearance and environmental protection are prompting research with environmentally friendly and natural raw materials, selected weaves that are in line with the latest blanket trends but would not be left out of the traditional, long-established weaves in woollen blankets market. Since we use blankets almost everyday for: warming our feet, laying on the grass during a picnic or just covering our furniture, therefore, it is a product that must look not only representative, but also has its functional purposes: to remain strong, stable, warming and pleasant to touch. Taking these factors into account, in order to create a good product, meet customer expectations and facilitate production processes the aim of this work – to design woollen blankets in different weaves with the same plan of weave, and to investigate their shrinkage and air permeability after finishing processes. Two series of fabrics were selected for the study with compositions of: 75% wollen yarns, 22% regenerated woollen yarns, 3% other fibers and 100% woollen yarns. |
