Abstract [eng] |
The master's final project “Production of Compound Bulk Fertilizers Using Coffee Grounds and Other Substances of Organic Origin” analyses and evaluates coffee grounds and other organic substances physical and chemical properties and its application in organic fertilizers production. The first chapter of this project is literature review. It analyses the main soil parameters, describes humification process and humic substances impact on plant growth. The main part of this chapter is composed of a review of traditional and alternative materials used as a soil additive or organic fertilizer. Four different brands of arabica coffee grounds were used. Coffee grounds were collected at home and in coffee shops located at Kaunas city. To fully analyze coffee grounds, determination of physical properties and chemical analysis were performed. For more detailed research instrumental analysis were used. In addition, evaluation of coffee grounds effect on soil pH value and rye growth were performed. After detailed research and evaluation of raw materials characteristics and chemical composition, complete organic fertilizer recipe was developed. Granulation process were performed using laboratory drum granulator. Final product properties and composition were determined according to official requirements for organic fertilizers. Moreover, a method to produce fertilizer tablets is also briefly described in this work. This master's project also provides some technological recommendations and highlights safety and health issues related to the production of the desired grade fertilizer. |
