Abstract [eng] |
The purpose of the final project is to empower the employees of a modeling software development company to gain specific knowledge and skills with the help of a distance learning system. In order to achieve this goal, an analysis of what knowledge and skills the employees of a software development company need has been conducted and their need for training has been evaluated. It was also analyzed what means, methods, and approaches were appropriate in the given situation and with the help of the collected data a distance learning system was designed and realized. The effectiveness of the learning system was tested in UAB No Magic Europe. When creating the design of the employee distance learning system, the research on employee availability and need for training was conducted and the learning system user needs were analyzed. Based on the results, the functional and non-functional system requirements were identified and the structure of the system was created. The results of the research on the employee need for training and the employee distance learning system structure were described in the article published in the Altaʼ20 conference journal. The realized distance learning system consists of the virtual learning environment integrated into the user documentation platform of the company, the tools for video-conferencing, lecture recording, video editing, communication, and the means of student support including recommendations, instructions, and useful links for both lecturers and students. To evaluate if the learning system meets employee expectations, a pilot research on the suitability of the system was conducted at the initial phase, followed by a qualitative research at a later time. It was found that the learning system meets employee expectations and the plan for further system enhancement was established based on the insights of the respondents. |
