Abstract [eng] |
Master thesis carries out a theoretical European Union and Lithuanian transport system overview, which closer introduces to the concept of urban public transport, passenger flow and route network significance for the normal functioning of the city. An overview of public transport status in Marijampole city in 2008 and presenting public transport study carried out in 2015, which gives an insight on the importance of the public transport system. The exploratory part formulates a clear objective: Analyse and compare the passenger flow on selected bus routes. Specific tasks to achieve the objective are raised: 1. Carry out a visual observation of passengers on selected routes. 2. Compare the load of routes and stops. 3. Present suggestions according to the study. The carried out analysis of the Marijampole public transport showed, that city bus and suburban bus routes duplicate each other, number of routes is too large. Bus average load with passengers shows that it is very little and varies from 1,43 to 8,11 passenger. The highest transported passenger flows are formed in the main streets of the Marijampole city: 742 passengers a day travels on Kaunas str., 413 travels on Vytautas str., 396 passengers a day travels on Laisves str., and 241 passengers a day travels on Vilkaviskio str. During the study a total of 26 stops operated on public transport routes in Marijampole city. Highest number of passengers on city bus routes were recorded at 9 stops with the flow of 144-181 passengers a day. Highest flow is at public transport stop \"Naujosios kapines\" - 181 passengers a day. Lots of city bus passengers are using stop \"Mokolai\" - 164. It is proposed to form Marijampole municipal public transport route network, which would be serviced by city bus routes and suburban bus routes that would not duplicate each other. |
