Abstract [eng] Large demand of \"Bag-in-Box” (BIB) type of packaging around the world is becoming urgent environmental topic, as the packaging is one of the largest sources of pollution. Materials used in BIB type of packaging - PE, PA, PET, Al, etc. - making some impact on the environment and our goal is to reduce this effect. This paper analyzes the BIB type of packaging. From the manufacturer we received two types of 5-liter BIB bags that we have investigated and determined the environmental impact of these materials. To determine the suitability of the material determination of just the environmental impact is now no longer sufficient, therefore we need to perform mechanical tests. Mechanical Research purpose - to confirm the results of the environmental impact or deny them. Knowing the barrier properties of the materials and the impact on the environment, we can make specific conclusions, but it would still be appropriate to perform some other mechanical tests. After performing the mechanical tests and knowing the environmental impact, assessing that the barrier properties of materials are good, we can conclude: low environmental impact and good mechanical properties - suitable material; a significant environmental impact and good mechanical properties - need to look for alternatives; significant environmental impact and the poor mechanical properties - the material is inappropriate. If environmentalists and BIB packaging manufacturers want to be innovative, they need to consider not only the environmental impact and barrier properties, but also mechanical tests.
