Abstract [eng] The development of information systems graphical user interface does not sufficiently take into account its appearance and aesthetics evaluation connection with the other usability criteria eval-uation. In many cases it is usual to build the user interface on the basis of personal experience and various guidelines or heuristics without measuring indirect factors that could affect usability evalua-tion. The purpose of this thesis is to experimentally investigate the various usability criteria peer relationships and first impression influence to the final user’s opinion on the information system usa-bility. Before the start of the study 11 hypotheses has been concluded which formed the research methodology. Most hypotheses are based on aesthetics – usability and first impression („thin-slicing“) effects. This study aims to confirm or deny the existence of these two effects in the context of in-formation systems usability. An online survey system was developed in this work for this type of re-searches. Surveys were performed which collected 717 results. The questions in experimental survey were presented in Lithuanian and English, therefore the respondents from Lithuania and foreign countries have participated. Hypotheses which have been concluded before were statistically ana-lyzed. Taking into account the type of the results, Chi-square and ANOVA statistics were used re-spectively. All the goals of this thesis were fulfilled and the stated main objective was achieved. The analysis of the hypotheses formulated conclusions on information systems aesthetic impact on other usability criteria, as well as the impact on the first impression for further systems evaluation. The study is relevant for all information systems engineers, graphical user interface designers and devel-opers to help them better understand what affects the user perceived system usability.
