Abstract [eng] |
Dziga Vertov’s „Man with a Movie Camera“ (rus. „Chelovek s kinoapparatom“) (1929) has brought radical changes and new perspectives to the film industry. Pioneering the documentary genre, non-compliance with established rules as not having a clearly defined storyline, experimental editing, a new approach to the reality of cinema. These aspects gained the film worldwide recognition, but nonetheless, the film was not innovative in one aspect - the soundtrack. More specifically, the lack of one. For composers and performers, this opened up an opportunity to convey a new sonic perception of the film. The theoretical part of this work reviews the life, historical context, ideology, relationship with sound of Dziga Vertov. Film music is discussed and three already created soundtracks of „Man with a Movie Camera“ are analyzed. The practical part describes the chosen ideology, methodology, concept, tools to be used and describes in detail the creative process of soundtrack composition and performance. |
