A research of applicable sharing economy models in Lithuanian tourism sector is relevant due to its rapid global and local growth of sharing knowledge (including ideas, experience, transfer of information), sharing opinions on quality of services provided, sharing objects and territories, that are purposed for tourism activities. A research of sharing economy in Lithuanian tourism sector may help to identify obstacles and lead to higher potential use of sharing economy in tourism. This research is also relevant due to lack of researches, that examine the pros and cons of sharing economy and traditional business models in tourism sector in Lithuania, taking consumersʼ angle. This research may also serve as a tool, determining priority forms of tourism policy, that would increase sustainable development of traditional business and sharing economy in Lithuanian tourism market. The object of the research – sharing-economy-based models in tourism sector. The purpose of the research - to determine the pros and cons of application of sharing-economy-based business models in Lithuanian tourism sector, emphasizing the consumersʼ view. The goals of the research: 1. to run analysis of sharing-economy-based business models in tourism sector; 2. analyze the concept of sharing economy; 3. to determine influence of sharing economy for tourism sector; 4. to build a research methodology of sharing-economy-based business models in tourism sector; 5. to evaluate the use of sharing-economy-based business models in Lithuanian tourism sector. In the master thesis, in order to analyze pros and cons of sharing-economy-based business models in tourism sector, the first part is analysis of sharing-economy-based business models in tourism sector. The second part is analysis of theoretical solutions, based on concept of sharing economy, the growth-stimulating factors of sharing economy in tourism sector, the ecosystem of sharing economy and the influence of sharing economy in tourism sector. In this part a sharing economy business model for tourism sector, that summarizes the analyzed scientific literature, is provided. In the third part a methodology of sharing-economy-based business models in Lithuanian tourism sector is concluded. In the fourth part the empirical research of sharing-economy-based business models in Lithuanian tourism sector is described. The analysis show, that, despite the controversial opinions on influence and importance of sharing economy in tourism sector, most of the experts and consumers respond positively about the sharing-economy-based business models in tourism sector, highlighting the better price, better meet of individual needs, a possibility of becoming a part of community, wider range of options, better availability of services, the speed of services provided and the service quality as the cons, compared to traditional business models. Worth mentioning, that users in tourism sector ar more likely to experiment, to try new and unique experiences, that sharing economy may provide. A big influence is visible in the first stage of userʼs experience, where landlords and the potential tenants, that connect through a rent platform, serve as accomodation reservation centres, complementing the traditional service providers, easying the share of information with other tourists and local residents. |
