Master‘s Thesis analyzes the Lithuanian population‘s attitudes towards family policy. The novelty of the research - analytical works carried out by scientists is usually directed to the content of the family policy, while the policy-making process, factors affecting it as well as the public's reaction to the applicable measures are left behind. A phenomenal situation emerges, when a seemingly well-prepared theory does not find a proper place in practice. This situation encourages to make an assumption that family policy carried out in our country is not an adequate for family needs. The problem of the research - whether the family policy is adequate for the actual family needs? Research subject – family policy in Lithuania. Research object - Lithuanian population‘s attitudes towards family policy. The aim of the research - to analyze the attitudes towards family policy in Lithuania. Objectives of the research: to analyze the concept of family policy, the types of measures and expression in welfare states; evaluate situation of Lithuanian family policy; to find out the attitudes of residents towards family policy in Lithuania. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature; analysis of legal documents; secondary statistical data analysis; survey; interview. The first chapter discusses the concept of family policy, types of family support and measures, policy expression in welfare states. The second chapter is devoted to reveal and evaluate the current situation of family policy in Lithuania. The chapter refers to Lithuanian family policy development, legal regulation, and the main measures of family policy, economic and demographic situation of families. The third chapter is devoted to find out the attitudes towards family policy in Lithuania. Research data revealed negative attitudes towards family policy in Lithuania. The reason for this - the family support measures are applicable irrespective of the actual needs of families. |
