Abstract [eng] The presented work tells how accurate the reverse engineering process can be using x-ray computed tomography approach. Samples of different shapes and different materials were considered for investigation. The CT data was obtained with different sets of parameters to analyze which parameter set would give the accurate and best result of the reverse engineering process. The CT data were imported into VGStudio max, firstly surface of the object was determined after which all other processes like gray scale analysis, measurement analysis, mesh conversion and CAD conversion were carried out. The quality of CT data was best suited for investigation which was observed in gray scale distribution curves. The measurement analysis gave almost 98-99% accurate results and provided advantageous results using XCT than CMM approach. From the overall experiment, the results of the measurement analysis were almost 99% accurate and the gray scale analysis also gave flat curves indicating the absence of noise. This makes the overall accuracy of the x-ray computed tomography approach for the process of reverse engineering to be 98-99% on an average.
