Social risk families are analyzed on the base of the concept of social tension areas. New factors influencing social tension areas appeared during the last years. Families’ social exclusion tendencies showed up, involving social risk families as a separate “marginal class”. Social risk families interfere now with such sociodemographic factors as poverty, unemployment, alcoholism, large families with many children, child neglect, etc. Data collected in five Lithuanian districts are presented. State institutions giving official numbers of families living under social risk and of children growing there do not show the real situation: in Šilutė municipality 14% of children live in social risk families (in the whole Klaipėda district 4.7%), in Pagėgiai municipality 11.7% (Tauragė district 6%), in Pasvalys municipality 11.7% (Panevėžys district 6.1%), Šakiai municipality 11.4% (Marijampolė district 6.1%). |
