Kaunas interwar architechture is not only a well-known but also a rather desolated layer of Lithuanian heritage. When analyzing the perspectives of giving the meaning to this heritage, the attention is drawn to two theoretical aspects - the authenticity and value and their unfolding in a specific context of the 20th century heritage. The article discusses the current heritage protection transformations from the heritage of "authentic monument" as an indicator of social society's longevity perceived in a "Venice Charter" spirit and analyses how these provisions could be adapted to be inheritance processes of Kaunas architectural heritage.
