Abstract [eng] Air and environmental pollution is becoming an increasingly important issue. As early as the beginning of this millennium the search for solutions on how to reduce it began. Through various scientific studies, titanium dioxide, a photocatalytic material, has been proposed as an alternative. This study investigates the usage of titanium dioxide as a supplement in asbestos free roof sheet paint in order to reduce toxic nitrogen oxide concentration in the air. Furthermore, using photocatalytic titanium dioxide in paint used for fiber cement boards creates a self-cleaning surface. The studies of a self-cleaning surface have been performed using different types of titanium dioxide in natural and laboratory conditions. Evaluation of the supplements positive and negative impact to the environment has been made. Tests have been performed with different amounts of TiO2 nanoparticles in a chamber created specifically for this experiment, the alteration of NO2 concentration during the photocatalysis reaction has been evaluated.
