In order to perform optimization study on a light weight product in cardboard packaging, possible ways to improve the packaging material are analysed. It has been found that the reduction of geometric dimensions is used as an optimization method for cardboard packaging. A packaging model has been designed to reduce the dimensions of the lightweight product cardboard packaging material. A model strength test is performed, geometric changes are made, and the effect of reduced dimensions to the strength of the package is determined. Based on the results obtained from the test, the optimum reduction of geometric dimensions of the package is selected and the actual package of the product is produced. Load test research is performed on the finished package to determine changes in its strength. The reduction of packaging area is calculated as well as the changes in price of cardboard packaging material after the packaging optimization study is performed. |
