Strategic goals in modern organizations are implemented through projects. Organizations increase the efficiency of resources, support resource allocation and risk balance by combining project portfolio with strategic business objectives. Although project portfolio management is a set of processes that help organizations to select appropriate projects to achieve strategic business goals, there are barriers in project portfolio management that affect not only the project portfolio management process but also project success. There is a lot of scientific literature about the project portfolio importance to organizations and the perception of the project success, but there is lack of research focusing on the links between barriers in project portfolio management and project success. The problem of this research is what are the links between barriers in project portfolio management and project success? The object of the research is barriers in project portfolio management and their links to project success. The purpose of this project is to investigate barriers in project portfolio management and evaluate their links to project success. The objectives of the research: • to analyze the key barriers in project portfolio management and their links to project success; • to study the theoretical assumptions of the main barriers in project portfolio management and their links to the project success and to develop a research model; • to develop a methodology for studying key barriers in project portfolio management and their links to project success; • to provide conclusions and recommendations on key barriers in project portfolio management and their links to project success. For research of the main barriers in project portfolio management and their links to project success analysis and systematization of scientific literature, expert assessment and online survey were used. 10 key barriers in project portfolio management were identified. Based on the research, it can be said that project portfolio management barriers have a greater impact on project product success than on project management success. |
