Abstract [eng] |
The purpose of modern statutory organizations is to respond effectively to dynamic change, to achieve quality of service, to provide the public with better quality services, to establish multilateral relations between government and society, and to involve citizens in the management of public affairs. This requires statutory official’s exceptional skills and qualities, which are identified by some scientists as congenital, others as acquired, although based on the theory of stress sources, one of the factors determining the sources of stress is personal features / traits of employees. There is no shortage of scientific work and practical research on the sources of stress in Lithuania, and more attention is paid to the analysis of personality traits in the last decade. However, there is still a lack of research to analyze the links between employee’s personality traits and the sources of stress that can be determined by both the organization and the employee or the immediate environment. This justifies the relevance of a scientific problem addressed in the work, the solution of which would help to clarify relationships between personality traits of the employees and the sources of stress and to serve the staff selection process, so that the new employees would have appropriate personal qualities to avoid negative consequences of stress and properly perform the duties entrusted to them. The work object is personality traits and sources of stress. The subject of the work is links between personality traits and sources of stress. The work objective is to investigate the links between personality traits and sources of stress at the Ukmergė District Police Commissioner. The work objective is to detail the tasks that have led to such a work structure: the theoretical part of the thesis analyzes the concepts of personality traits and stress, identifies and justifies personality traits / dimensions and sources of stress; In the project part of the thesis the results of personality traits and sources of stress are presented in Ukmergė district police commission. The work methodology, which helped to solve the above mentioned tasks, consists of the analysis of scientific literature, questionnaire survey and statistical research data analysis, descriptive statistics and correlation analysis methods. The analysis of scientific literature reveals that personality traits are perceived as a personal set of features / traits, totality and peculiarities / methods by the following personality: extravagance, neuroticism, openness to experience, consensus and awareness. stress can be defined as human condition / tension; the response of the human body; disharmony / mismatch between requirements and opportunities. Externally (work content, specificity; work organization; organization’s microclimate; workload; changes) and internal (relationships in the near environment; self – distrust; persistent pursuit of perfection / perfectionism; fear and anxiety; anger and pessimistic attitude) are often highlighted and analyzed in the scientific context sources. In order to evaluate the expression of personality traits and sources of stress of the employees and to identify the links between personality traits / dimensions and stress sources at Ukmergė District Police Commissioner, an empirical study was carried out which revealed that the officials of the investigated organization are the most characteristic of consciousness, and the least they are characterized by neuroticism. It has been established that both external and internal sources of stress are significant for police officers, but most of all they are stressed by an internal source of stress – constant pursuit of perfection, and the least – by close relationship. On the basis of the analysis of correlation research results, it can be stated that the sources of stress are directly dependent on personality traits. It has been found that if officials have a characteristic of extravagance, neither external nor internal sources of stress are significant to them, and those with neuroticism are stressed by external stressors. A trait of openness to experience shows that a person’s attitude to life and work is pessimistic, what is likely to cause officials more stress in both work and personal life. If officials have a dimension of awareness, there is a little chance that they will experience stress in their immediate environment, and a feature of consensus suggests that there is a greater likelihood of experiencing stress related to the content and specifics of work, relationships in the immediate surroundings, fear and anxiety. |
