Abstract [eng] This study investigates an electrochemical method for the selective extraction of lithium, using black mass obtained from spent lithium-ion batteries as the electrode material. The material was characterized physicochemically using moisture content, particle size distribution, ICP-OES, and XRF methods, and the lithium content in the material was found to be 6.55%. Electrodes were manufactured from the black mass using a pressing method, and conductivity measurements were analyzed to assess their electrical conductivity. Electrochemical studies – cyclic voltammetry and step chronoamperometry – were performed in a three-electrode electrochemical cell using a 1 M Na₂SO₄ electrolyte. The amount of lithium extracted, determined by ICP-OES analysis of the electrolyte, reached 19.6 mg/L (in a 70 mL volume of solution), yielding a calculated current efficiency of 45%. The results obtained confirm the technological feasibility of the electrochemical ESLR process and open up opportunities for further process optimization.
