| Abstract [eng] |
The aim of this thesis is to design a Delta-Sigma modulator using SiGe integrated circuit technology and to investigate the advantages and disadvantages of applying this technology in such an application. The thesis analyzes different Delta-Sigma modulator architectures and their building blocks. SiGe integrated circuit technology is discussed, and its potential advantages in modulator design are evaluated. Various operational amplifier improvements are investigated, and a new BiCMOS enhancement is proposed, which is only possible due to the use of SiGe technology. A Delta-Sigma modulator with a 1.8 V supply voltage and an SNR of 97.2 dB was designed. The modulator features a power consumption of 751.18 µW and a FoM of 187.32 dB. A topology with dimensions of 134.075 × 108.19 µm was designed, resulting in a total area of 0.015 mm². |
