Abstract [eng] |
Radiotherapy is one of the available cancer treatment methods commonly used in Lithuanian. During radiotherapy treatment procedure patients are immobilized using specially designed devices that help delivery of the prescribed radiation dose exactly to the tumour. Immobilization devices are made from carbon fibre because of its outstanding mechanical properties and transparency to radiation. Due to this fact the influence of immobilization devices is ignored when planning the dose for the treatment. In this work X-ray attenuation caused by the presence of immobilization devices has been investigated with the aim to evaluate possible impact of attenuation on the absorbed dose. |
