Abstract [eng] |
As the learning paradigm and the concept of lifelong learning are becoming mainstream, there is an increased demand for focus on the learning processes outside formal education institutions. One of these education institutions is a museum. So, to properly analyse the learning processes in museums, it is important to take a closer look at the peculiarities of learning environments (potential, educational and personal). The learning process in museums is affected by environments, more specifically by educational and potential learning environments in museums, which are areas where museum visitors as learners can form their personal learning environments; consequently, it is relevant to reveal the process of personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments by identifying factors, which influence this process. Based on the research studies dedicated to the learning process in museums, it can be stated that the learning process in museums has attracted attention from researchers, although there is a lack of studies, which focus on the exposure of personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments that surround the museum area. Therefore, the question is what factors determine the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments? This is a scholarly problem and its solution would contribute to the development of new scientific knowledge. It is important to examine the factors, which influence the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments in museums, since it would help to understand what determines the involvement of museum visitors in the learning process in museums. Furthermore, it would be instrumental in museum practice, for it would help to create potential learning environments, which would encourage the museum visitors to learn. On that ground, the previously mentioned scholarly problem is relevant and necessary to study. During the study, the following problematic questions are expected to be answered: 1. What influence do the internal (personal) and the external (environmental) factors have on the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors? 2. How do museum visitors form their personal learning environments based on the potential learning environments in museums? These problematic questions constitute the very essence of this scholarly problem, which needs to be solved in this master’s degree final project. The object of research is the factors, which determine the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments. The aim of the research is to expose the factors, which determine the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments. The objectives of the research: 1. To theoretically motivate what factors affect the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments, 2. To motivate the research methodology of the factors, which influence the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments, 3. To establish the factors, which affect the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments. First of all, this project carries out the analysis of scientific literature, which provides framework to create a theoretical model of personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments. The empirical study, which involves an assessment of the established theoretical model and determination of the factors that affect the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments, is conducted in Balys and Vanda Sruogos House-Museum by applying the case method of research analysis. Triangulation of research data collection methods is employed and the research data is retrieved using these methods: scientific observation, document analysis and a half-structured interview. The obtained research data was processed by implementing qualitative research analysis. Critical analysis is also applied. The results of the research study reveal that the process of personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments is complex and is affected by external environmental and internal personal factors. The external (environmental) and internal (personal) factors are both influential to the personal learning environment formation of museum visitors as a result of potential learning environments. The synergy of these external and internal factors is precisely responsible for the unique and specifically museum visitor-oriented personal learning environment formation as a result of potential learning environments. Based on the potential learning environments in museums, the museum visitors form the personal learning environments under the synergic effect of internal and external factors. |
