Abstract [eng] |
After an overview of the literature, it was found that VSC type HVDC converters are interconnected by the cables and are increasingly popular over long distances. Since the beginning of 2016, high voltage direct current connections “NordBalt” have been put into operation. The high-voltage DC converter cable connection is the only one in the Baltics with such long 450 km cable connection to Sweden. This research introduces various fault forms, causes of failure as well, using the methods (TDR, ICE, Murrey bridge, Acoustic fault location, TW) for determining the failure locations and fault finding equipment, the advantages, disadvantages, possibilities, reliability and accuracy of the cable failure location in the NordBalt connection are determined. The tasks are to perform a NordBalt cable fault location in practice, provide a comparison of the accuracy of used devices and methods, analyze the scientific articles and provide a method for determining the cable failure location using trace fault recorder data. Recommendations, technical solutions and alternative fault location methods are suggested. |
