Abstract [eng] |
In this thesis, a study of the effects of low velocity impact damages on Aircraft Composite Structures, will be carried out using Finite Element Modelling to understand the behaviour of the material. Two test models were tested upon to replicate the effects of load criteria, while an aircraft is subjected to high energy/low velocity impact. The test sections are 1 metre by 1 metre for the for the fuselage panel with stringer reinforcements and 1metre by 2 metres for the flat plate with cutout sections. This was done to replicate the results in real – life working conditions. The use of the composite application module in ANSYS, Inc. 18.1 software has been heavily used in the thesis. The skin thickness was kept the same to match the real model of Airbus A350 XWB. |
