Abstract [eng] |
Today, the EU and NATO are confronted with a rapidly changing global security environment. There are many issues close to Europe: Brexit, demographic issues, refugee crisis, rising populist political movements, terrorism and Ukraine crisis. It is also important to add high imbalance in NATO MS defense spending, where the European countries contribution is low. Current the US government with Donald Trump in front is very skeptical on such European countries approach to security. The future becomes unpredictable and stability level is decreasing, but both, the EU and NATO have excellent opportunities to work together. The EU has tools to help manage with cyber and informational attacks, while NATO is able to support the EU in ensuring European security. Membership in both organizations overlaps and therefore provides excellent conditions for cooperation in various areas related to security and defense: crisis management, combating hybrid threats, partnership on intelligence gathering, cooperation on cyber defense issues, coordination in defense planning processes and etc. |
