Abstract [eng] |
. Emigration has long been known as one of the most important facts of life. Departing people become a big problem in Lithuania, the country loses its labor force, which affects the economic development of the country. Lithuania is the leader in the European Union in terms of the emigration rate per thousand inhabitants, whose positions are mostly shaped by political and economic decisions. Attempts are made to find out the causes of emigration, and identify the factors influencing the macroeconomic and microeconomic level. Most often, emphasis is placed on the fact that emigration is driven by economic factors: wage differences, differences in living standards of the countries, unemployment rates in the country and occupation. The mass departure of the population results in a shortage of workforce in some sectors of the country's economy, and it is therefore necessary to look for alternatives to the availability of workforce. One of the main concerns about the brain draining away is the loss of highly skilled labor, which reduces the country's economic, innovative, competitive potential. |
