The paper reviews the technology of chemical nickel plating and the technology for the spent chemical nickel plating solution treatment. The technology of the treatment of industrial wastewater was analyzed and the modification was proposed, implementing the treatment of spent chemical nickel solution. A 3,24 m3 reactor was proposed for the treatment of spent chemical nickel solution and the quantities of chemicals required to treat 15 m3 of the solution were calculated. Additional equipment necessary for chemical nickel solution treatment was selected, and material balances were calculated, process flow diagram was introduced. The economic performance of the modification has been assessed, and the payback of the technology is estimated to be realistic and fast – the modification will increase company’s annual profit by almost EUR 23000. The environmental assessment proved that the pollutant emissions do not exceed the national limits. Chemical and physical risk factors have been identified, and measures have been proposed to protect employees at work. |
