All the methods for determination of cable condition that have been analysed thoroughly are appropriate for determination of the existing degradation and prevention of power grid failures. One of the least analysed methods of diagnostics is recovery voltage measurement (RVM). The aim of this paper is to analyse the effectiveness of the recovery voltage method in assessment of cable condition. The aim is implemented by means of the background analysis and laboratory experiments. The paper has involved analysis of different cable diagnostics methods applied at present, processes of formation and parameters of recovery voltage, study of the influence of diagnostic and cable parameters on the recovery voltage, and assessment of effectiveness of the method. |
