Abstract [eng] Studies on the noise produced by the car exhaust pipe were carried out in the final thesis. The noise was measured for cars with and without a catalyst. A gas exhaust tank was designed for special car model and its noise reduction was investigated. The theoretical analysis as well as the analysis of scientific articles were carried out in the thesis, the methodology for noise measurement and gas exhaust tank design is provided and conclusions are made. In order to determine the noise reduction of the tank designed the Ansys Mechanical computer modelling application was employed. The speed of exhaust gas stream was measured by means of the anemometer and the noise reduction of the designed tank was investigated by entering necessary parameters in the Ansys environment. Upon the change of geometry, it was sought to obtain a tank which reduces the noise most. During engine noise investigations and having formed an equation the necessary noise reduction was determined for the tank formed and a comparison with the model analogous to the original tank was made.
