Abstract [eng] |
Effective inventory management is one of the most important successful organisation functioning prerequisites since the current assets require considerable investments that, in some cases, are financed by loan capital funds and affect the dynamics of company profitability, solvency and efficiency indicators directly. Inventory of many companies represent a significant part of current assets that produce income. Therefore, companies should pay more attention to inventory accounting and to its’ management either, ex. investments to necessary inventory, stocking and customer demand satisfaction should be taken into account. Scientific literature analysis showed that inventory management solutions in Lithuania are not sufficiently studied. Inventory management structural analysis is lacking. Authors’ works do not have internal factors refined and based on survey that enable complex and structurally consistent formulation of adequate and effective inventory management policy. So the work designs a scientific problem shaped as the question: “What solutions enable the more effective inventory management in a company?”. Considering the scientific problem the work will develop inventory management efficiency opportunities by applying to practical use exclusively fragmentarily studied and mutually not related ABC and XYZ analyses. Object of the work – inventory management. Subject of the work – trade companies’ inventory management. Aim of the work – to reveal effective inventory management solutions in the trade companies. Work tasks: inventory management systems and models’ conceptualisation; factors’ determining inventory management efficiency identification; and presentation of validation tool allowing to optimise inventory management solutions. Working methods: scientific literature and secondary data analysis as well as semi-structured interview. With reference to the scientific literature analysis trade company’s inventory classification to ABC – XYZ classes performed and the inventory management system used in the company determined with the help of the qualitative research. Analysis also showed that the trade company has the inventory management system based on quite rational principles. Furthermore, positions for the system efficiency increase related to inventory management solutions differentiation based on different product groups are highlighted. Areas of the further research summarised in the structural model are also revealed. |
