Abstract [eng] |
Pine wood is widely used in wood industry because of its physical and mechanical properties. Pine wood is inexpensive and easy to work with, therefore it’s often selected for interior and exterior purposes. For longer wood exploitation time it is necessary to ensure wood physical and mechanical properties like wood moisture content. Wood moisture content is a huge factor influencing wood durability. Pine wood moisture content is influenced by great number of factors like wood density, wood place in the trunk, place of exploitation, weather conditions, wood aging and etc. To sum up, this study main aim is to find out how pine wood moisture content depends on various factors. This study is a sequel of previous studies which were performed in 1998, 2001, 2006 years. In those studies, was researching wood place in the trunk influence on wood moisture content. For these studies testing samples were cut from pine wood. Pine trunk was divided four height zones and tree parts in transverse direction (heartwood, transition from heartwood to sapwood and sapwood). Each group was represented by 12 samples. Half samples were kept in premises and the other half outdoors (in meteorological boxes). Initial moisture content was about 9–10%. Average conventional wood density of the test samples was 385–414 kg/m3. Wood weight and air parameters (relative humidity and temperature) of premises and outdoors were ascertained once a week using Assmann psychrometer. Experiment shows that wood moisture differences in transverse direction is greater than in height zones. Greatest wood moisture content changes were in sapwood (average in premises – 0.21 %; outdoors – 0.72 %); inferior in heartwood (average in premises – 0.16 %; outdoors – 0.58 %). In height zones average wood moisture content changes in premises was 0.18–0.2 %; outdoors – 0.62–0.68 %. Comparing outside and premises specimens wood moisture content ranges was find out that outside samples moisture content changes 3.5 time greater than in premises samples (in premises – 0.19 %; outdoors – 0.66 %). 1998, 2001, 2006 and 2016 years’ pine wood moisture content changes tendency remains alike. All years moisture content was similar, therefore wood moisture content range and maximum moisture content in 2016 year was reduced. |
