Homework is very important in the pupil’s life; the pupil, while doing his homework, learns not only that what is in his homework, but also he develops his personality. Due to the change of generations, the attitude to the importance of homework has also changed. The scientists have three positions. 1. Homework is useful for the pupil's development, his personal maturation and extends learning beyond the school, increases awareness of the provided information, develops responsibility, provides an opportunity to practice, to consolidate, to reflect and remember what he studied at school, strengthens the parent-child relationship and encourages more cooperation between school and parents. 2. Homework is harmful for a pupil, do not develop him as a personality as well as prevent him from having productive free time, when pupil could acquire life skills and develop independence. They reduce the motivation to learn, take away the independence and ability to decide himself how to spend free time, provide more possibilities to cheat, increases the gap between those students who have high educational results and low educational results. 3. Homework is useful for the pupil’s educational achievement only when it is prepared targeted, differentiated according to the pupil’s abilities and learning level, if the estimated time for homework remains within the recommended time limits, if the pupil always has the ability to get help from a professional teacher, is consistent in frequency and quantity, interesting for the pupil himself and increasing the motivation to study. |
