Abstract [eng] The analysis of the concept of competitiveness and its determinants allows to suggest that in the narrow sense the competitiveness can be defined as a capacity of companies to compete, grow and be profitable in the market, and in the broad sense it is the economic policy indicator showing overall competitiveness of different industries in the country in a particular region (global, European etc.). The main factors showing the competitiveness of companies in the national and international market are divided into three groups: market actions, innovation capacity and intangible assets. After the identification of factors of competitiveness, it was important to find out what are the trends in the textile and clothing industry of the Lithuanian and potential markets (Ukraine, Bulgaria and Romania).
