Abstract [eng] |
Biology is one of the most important science subjects in general education, with a major impact on everyday life and the development of society. It is particularly important to reinforce the importance of learning biology in the minds of young people. However, traditional methods of motivation may not be effective. The concept of teaching biology in modern schools is changing rapidly, becoming innovative and often involving interactive tools, hands-on activities, collaboration, problem-solving and a variety of other teaching methods that encourage students to be active and to adopt different learning styles. After analysing the factors that enhance learning in biology and conducting a study of the existing factors, and reviewing the possibilities of using interactive tools in biology education, a methodology for improving motivation in biology learning was developed. The biology teaching methodology has three main elements: a virtual learning environment, a lesson and a catalogue. The lesson uses a variety of learning scenarios, complemented by interactive educational tools. This not only helps to transfer knowledge of biology, but also encourages students' exploration, idea generation and critical thinking, which is an essential aspect of deep learning. The use of virtual learning environments in the teaching of biology encourages students to become more involved in the educational process. A catalogue is a collection of resources, structured according to topics, categories and other parameters, which constitute a systematic pool of materials for learning biology. It enables students to easily find and use the materials they need and helps teachers to organise teaching effectively. To create the interactive content catalogue, an analysis and comparison of virtual learning environments and content management systems was carried out. For the design and implementation of the catalogue, the CMS Wordpress was chosen. The catalogue is available on the Gymnasium's website and is publicly accessible. The stakeholders in the current biology methodology are students and teachers. When implementing a biology teaching methodology to improve students' motivation, it makes sense to choose educational tools that are freely available to students and free of charge. The methodology is applied in the gymnasium during lessons, for independent learning and homework. After the implementation of the methodology to promote motivation for teaching in biology lessons, a study in the form of a survey was carried out to demonstrate the usefulness of the system. |
