Modern working life is changing rapidly, and vocational education teachers need to keep abreast of changing knowledge needs and technological developments. Digital technologies are becoming an increasingly integral part of everyday life in modern society. New technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, cloud computing and blockchain are driving digital transformation. Digital skills are becoming increasingly important. In Lithuania, one of the priority areas for teacher professional development is strengthening digital competences. This paper explores how to help teachers in the profession to develop more effectively the use of digital technologies in their pedagogical activities, and what tools could help them to find the information and learning materials they need. The aim of the work is to improve the possibilities of developing digital competences of vocational teachers by using a virtual support system. In order to achieve the aim of the thesis, a study of the need for a virtual support system was carried out, an analysis of the problem of the application of digital technologies in pedagogical activities was carried out, virtual learning environments and their functional and non-functional requirements were analysed, and the design of a virtual support system was carried out for the professional teachers. The support system for vocational teachers is implemented in the virtual learning environment Moodle. It consists of 13 elements. An evaluation of the application of the virtual support system for vocational teachers was carried out and the survey data was discussed. The virtual support system was familiarised and evaluated by the vocational teachers. The developed virtual support system for vocational teachers has been implemented and is being used in the Panevėžys Training Centre. |
