Currently, the use of business intelligence technologies are increasing in data analysis and decision-making areas. Business intelligence solutions give an opportunity to access data more effectively, answer more complex and fundamental questions which lead to better solutions. One of the business intelligence tools which provide information in a graphical way is a dashboard. Using graphs and tables it presents information in various levels of detail (you can elaborate data or make it more conceptual). Information in a dashboard is distinguished in different colors (e.g. red means a “bad” situation, opposite to green, which means “good”). Business intelligence is often used in business sphere, but that is not the only place which needs data analysis and decision making. University studies’ management also needs data analysis for finding and solving problems. Latter elevates a problem – after a term time, a number of students are expelled from university or remain as debtors. The reason why this happens is not clear. This paper analyses characteristics which define the quality of studies and whether they can be displays using dashboards. Study quality indicators were selected using Kano model. A dashboard displaying these indicators where created using MS SQL Server and MS SharePoint technologies. Therefore, dashboards are suitable for monitoring university studies management, scrutinizing data, detecting and solving problems. |
