Abstract [eng] In the renewable energy market, there is an increasing need to adapt existing grid-tied inverters for a new purpose: functioning in an off-grid microgrid system. With the rising number of renewable energy systems, the importance of managing excess power consumption in an off-grid microgrid systems also grows. Following a scientific analysis of the literature, it becomes evident that there is a lack of methods for managing the consumption of excess power caused by uncontrolled renewable energy sources utilizing grid-tied inverters in micro off-grid systems. A control algorithm has been developed and tested to address this issue. This algorithm dynamically manages the constantly changing excess power consumption in a micro off-grid system employing grid-tied inverters and renewable energy sources. Importantly, this control algorithm achieves its purpose without affecting the amount of stored energy in the system. Consequently, the presented method allows the integration of grid-tied inverters with renewable energy sources into an off-grid system.
