Currently information technology (IT) is used everywhere and it is hard to imagine our activities without it. Each organization is more or less dependent on it. Meanwhile IT helps to do things much easier and faster it takes a lot of effort to keep it running properly. For some organizations proper IT infrastructure functioning is vital for it‘s activity. More organization relies on IT - more it should invest on IT management process. There are a lot of software developed for various IT management tasks, but there is a lack in some IT management fields like automation of distributing of IP or MAC addresses and another kind of information used in access-lists on remote servers which are usually firewalls, proxy, DHCP and other kinds of servers used for network management and control. Herein this thesis is made an overview and comparison of technologies used for solving similar problems. Considering to their lack of required functionality the IT infrastructure management (ITIM) information system was developed which is capable to satisfy requirements of defined tasks. Based on information which is managed by the system (mainly IP and MAC addresses of network devices) it was effectively extended to manage IT incidents and the repository of information about used hardware within organization. Information system is based on open source software and technologies. PHP supported by Apache server is used for managing user interface tasks. MySQL database management system was selected for data manipulation. XML-RPC module written on PERL releases data transfer to remote systems. |
