Place-names are part of cultural heritage and national identity. It is very important to protect and analyze current and historical place-names. The objective of master‘s thesis was to develop and analyze software for Lithuanian Place-names research. Firstly there were other analogous Lithuanian and European systems analyzed and compared. Also the current place-names research process was analyzed. The automated model of place-names research was developed, and based on this model; the software was designed and implemented. The software results lets perform onomastic research, saving results in a way they can be restored at any time later. There was described experiment performed in Vilnius University, using developed software. The suggestions of how to improve the software and the model were made. |
