Abstract [eng] |
In this master's final project, the process of innovations development in the museums of the Kaunas city municipality in order to implement the principles of sustainable development are analyzed. Today's museum is not just a place of memory storage, its role in society is changing to a socially open institution based on the creation of accessibility and participation. In fact, this perception arose from the desire to realize the goals of sustainable development and culture is emphasized as an important part of these process. The principles of sustainable development are based on five components: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. Based on them prepared 17 sustainable development goals in order to create a modern and responsible society of the present and future, responding to everyone's needs. Both the changing society and the speed of technological innovation lead to changes and public mission in museum activities. Innovations are used for this - actions or processes that are related to the introduction of innovations. In addition to technological solutions, new managerial, service and social solutions can be applied. The work is relevant and new in that sustainability and innovation in museums is little studied in the scientific discourse, especially in Lithuania. The vast majority of research works are about digitization in museums and its benefits in the field of education and solutions to social problems in innovative ways. Since there is very little research related to the creation of innovations in museums and how innovative solutions contribute to sustainable development, this indicates the need for more extensive research in the mentioned aspect. A problematic question is raised. how does the development of innovations in the museums of the Kaunas city municipality contribute to the realization of the principles of sustainable development? The object of the study was the development of innovations in museums in the context of sustainable development. The goal is to investigate the innovation development in the museums of Kaunas city municipality in order to realize the principles of sustainable development. To achieve the goal, the following tasks have been set: to reveal the role of culture in the concept of sustainable development; analyze the specifics of creating innovations in the context of museums; to systematize knowledge about international and national policies and practices for realizing the goals of innovation and sustainable development in museums; to empirically investigate the influence of the innovation development in the museums of Kaunas city municipality on the goals of sustainable development. In preparing the final master's project, the methods of scientific literature and document analysis and semi-structured interview were used. The main results of the project show that the prevailing innovation in museums is digitization, but other types of innovation are also applied. Although the knowledge of the museum staff about sustainable development is rather poor, the role of the museum is understood as an educational headquarters, spreading knowledge about sustainability, social equality to the public, bringing together the local community, and its value is most clearly seen in the five goals of sustainable development: quality education, economic growth, sustainable city and in building community, responsible consumption, peace and justice. The museum is a creator, mediator and basis for the development of the principles of sustainable development. Innovation development in museums is a multi-layered process influenced by the external and internal environment, and its actions include the stages of planning, management and process flow. After the analysis of international and national policy documents, it was observed that a little attention is paid to the innovation development, although the significance of both it and sustainable development is understood to be extremely high. In the museums that participated in the study, the most prominent innovations are co-creation, the role of the manager and activity strategizing, educational and exhibition innovations, which are created on a technological basis, and social innovations - increasing the employment of people with various needs and reducing exclusion. |
