In this work, a mathematical model of pH level regulation was developed, where the dependencies of the variables are described by differential equations. The Newton method, based on iterative calculations, is used for the calculation of the pH in the mathematical model from the input variables. After comparing different methods of controller tuning, the Ziegler-Nichols tuning method was chosen due to its better qualitative parameters of the transient process. This method is applied to the PI controller. After tuning the mentioned controller, an adaptive control system is created, which adjusts the proportional and integral terms based on the calculated output pH value. By introducing setpoint changes and applying disturbances, the quality of the adaptive control system is compared to that of the simple PI controller. A simulation model of the chemical process is created in the MATLAB Simulink environment. |
