Abstract [eng] n order to increase the share of heat generation from renewable energy sources, most European countries are moving away from fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly alternatives such as biofuels and solar energy. A good example of this is Denmark, where the installed capacity of large- scale solar thermal power plants amounts to 1100 MW. This thesis analyses the literature on large area solar thermal collectors, their principle of operation and their technological and economic aspects. The literature analysis was used as a basis for further calculations, which involved the selection and calculation of a solar thermal collector system using EnergyPro software, to be integrated into the existing Tauragė Beržės district boiler house and its CHP network. An economic, ecological and risk analysis of the system was carried out.
