Abstract [eng] |
In this paper we present a sensors monitoring and anomalous water use detection system to facilitate sensors data monitoring and detection of potential water leaks. The system consists of a mobile application that is installed on the user’s phone, a server, and a microcontroller, that is installed in the user’s water supply system. The server uses a machine learning algorithm to efficiently detect potential water leaks and prevent major losses. The server also sends alarm messages to the user’s mobile device to report anomalous water use with the aim of allowing the user to avoid unwanted consequences quickly. In the exploratory part of the work different machine learning algorithms are compared using different scenarios and metrics to find the most efficient model for detecting anomalous water usage. This type of system can be used in private homes as well as in public institutions. The project is not only beneficial for avoiding financial losses, but also for conserving one of the most important environmental resource – water. |
