Abstract [eng] |
As fast fashion became popular among consumers, fashion trends in stores started to change at least once a month. This led to the increase of the frequency and quantity consumers' clothing purchases, which is leading to more frequent apparel disposal behaviour. The disposal behaviour method chosen by consumers determines whether a garment will end up in landfill and continue to have a negative impact on the environment, or whether the garment will continue to be used. Although there are three main groups of factors that determine apparel disposal behaviour - personal characteristics, garment characteristics and situational factors - the first two are the most influential. Over the last 5 years, the scientific community has become increasingly interested in apparel disposal behaviour, but the results from different studies are mixed. Because of this, it is still difficult to identify which factors of personal characteristics and apparel attributes are determinants of apparel disposal behaviour and which of these are the most important. For these reasons, the research problem in this Master's Final Degree Project is formulated as a question: what factors determine apparel disposal behaviour? |
