Abstract [eng] The sharing economy has emerged around the world to make the most efficient use of human resources, and mobile technologies have further boosted the growth of the sharing economy. Driven by a growing global population, the promotion of sustainable development, and more innovative and environmentally conscious consumers, this sharing-based activity is encouraging society to turn its back on inefficiently used assets. Despite a growing body of research in this area, there is still no clear answer as to the factors that motivate consumers to participate in the sharing economy. Researchers argue that consumers' motivation to engage in the sharing economy is driven by saving monetary resources, trust in the recommendations of other consumers and ecological sustainability. However, the academic literature suggests that ecology does not play an important role in the consumer's decision to participate in the sharing economy and that the financial value of the sharing economy is the most important influence. Intention to participate is influenced by risk, which is associated with potential losses for the consumer and can negatively affect engagement in the sharing economy.
