Abstract [eng] |
There are more than 1 billion people with disabilities in the world, so it is important to ensure not only their employment but also their inclusion in the workplace and their maintenance in their jobs. Employment is a crucial factor not only for the state or organizations but also for individuals, as it is their source of income, social integration, and motivation for self-realization. The employment of people with disabilities depends not only on their own willingness and motivation but also on the attitude of the organization and/or the manager, and their involvement in the employment process. Employing people with disabilities can avoid obstacles related to inclusion, especially when workplaces are prepared to help people with disabilities find employment. Most of the available job positions are in unskilled labor, and when it comes to sectors, there is a shortage of employees in the service, technology, transportation, and sales sectors. The employment and inclusion of people with disabilities in Lithuanian organizations are constantly changing. Although the number of disabled people is increasing worldwide, in Lithuania, 70 percent of people with disabilities are unable to work, so it is necessary to clarify why people with disabilities do not want to work in Lithuanian organizations. It is important not only to identify the negative factors that discourage them from working but also the positive factors that can attract working people with disabilities to the job market. In the scientific literature, many studies have been conducted on inclusion and employment from the employer's perspective, but very rarely are these topics related to the employment of people with disabilities. This study focuses on the expression of the employment and inclusion of people with disabilities in Lithuanian organizations, addressing both disabled employees and employers, who describe the challenges they face when employing and what determines the smooth integration and social responsibility of people with disabilities in organizations. |
