| Abstract [eng] |
Disposable paper cups for hot drinks are composed of 95% of paper and 5% of polyethylene layers. The key barrier to recycle this package is its composite structure and lack of alternative recycling technologies in Lithuania. Paper cups design alternatives and alternative recycling technologies are investigated in this project work. Current paper cup life cycle is compared to 3 more paper cup alternatives - incineration of paper cups; paper recycling after changing paper cup coating; production of construction boards made of composite packaging. The key objective of the project is to investigate environmental performance improvement opportunities of disposable paper cups for hot drinks. |
