To create original methodology for analyzing university’s study process newest business intelligence tools were used for this project, which are Microsoft Excel 2016 with Power Pivot add-on and Power BI desktop 2016. Data model was created with Power Pivot, which uses fast data processing and data compression, automatic data renewal, also acts as a data warehouse. Using DAX programming language 35 calculated fields and key performance indicators were created for them to further be used in dashboards. Also these measures can be used by end-users – staff of university – for creating new dashboards or editing existing ones. Modern prototype with interactive dashboards, using new visualizations was created using real KTU faculty of informatics 2014-2015 study year academic information system data. This prototype gives the ability for the university staff to understand data about study process in faculties, analyze it and make decisions on how to improve the situation. |
