Integration of new people into the labor market is not a new phenomenon, however it is still actively discussed and remains important in the modern society. Recently the attention paid to difficulties faced by higher education professionals has been growing, and issues related to their employment and economic activity are considered to have high priority. And yet, higher school graduates willing to gain a foothold in the labor market, still have to face serious obstacles. This is caused by a number of reasons, from lack of determination and motivation to negative view of employers on a young people having no working experience. The research has casted light on another aspect - acquaintances and connections have quite a large influence on employment possibilities in the Šakių district. This is governed by the fact that there are not many job offers in the district and employers raise high requirements to the potential employees and also pay much attention to working experience. It is interesting to note that quite a number of new businesses are being created in Šakiai, neighboring towns and villages, and so it could be worth-while motivating young people to establish their own businesses and eventually creating working positions not only for themselves but also for others. The biggest problem is that the majority of young people lack confidence and are afraid of arising potential difficulties even if they have business ideas. The research has revealed that young people having higher education are willing to start and keep their career going in their hometown, however current situation in the labor market is overcomplicated for them. |
