Abstract [eng] |
Cultural expression and meaning issues are discussed by various translation studies researchers, linguists in foreign countries (Bassnett, Leppihalme, Davies et al.) and in Lithuania as well (Leonavičienė, Maksvytytė, Petrulionis, Kvašytė, Balciuniene et al.). This phenomenon is related to the interdisciplinary of translation studies. Translation of realia from French into Lithuanian is not yet widely investigated. This topic from a different perspective was analysed only by A. Leonavičienė in 2014. Since realia translation from French into Lithuanian is still an unexplored field, we chose this phenomenon as our research object. The object of the thesis is tangible culture specific realia – realia of culinary genre publications in French. Therefore, the aim of the thesis is to analyse the possible ways of realia translation in culinary genre texts from French into Lithuanian. Hypothesis: realia translation from French into Lithuanian in culinary genre publications tends to be translated using foreignization strategy rather than domestication, and it is related to the genre of the texts. In order to achieve the aim of the thesis, the following objectives were set: 1) to discuss the theoretical concept of realia, classification of realia and their translation possibilities as well as specific genre requirements for realia translation; 2) to collect data for the research and analyse it according to quantitative and qualitative methods; 3) to analyse the translation of realia according to the realia translation strategies. |
