Master's thesis is formulated as an identification of Kaunas interwar architectural peculiarities and a creation of universal interwar building renovation model. During the material storage, analysis and summation stage basic architectural peculiarities of the interwar buildings was established, national identity problems formed and solutions for hypothetical principles formulated. Empirical studies were used to collect and summarize the data needed to vacate problems and find the conceptual principles of solving them for Kaunas interwar architecture peculiarities. A conceptual model was developed based on which the experimental project is designed by. The designed interwar building renovation model is versatile, and it can be applied to other inter-war period buildings. Using the experimental design approach a conceptual proposals and solutions are provided for a hotel and a conference center at Vytautas avenue 1, Kaunas. The proposals confirms the hypothetical and conceptual Kaunas interwar architecture identity and upgrade model. The building complex was designed on the basis of the inter-war architecture building peculiarities. The complex architecture of the new building emphasizes the historical architecture and represents interwar architecture building peculiarities. Master's thesis conclusions were formulated. |
