Abstract [eng] |
An N-Body simulation is commonplace within the field of computational astrophysics. With an ever increasing grade of computational hardware available at our disposal, it is becoming easier to run large simulations (n ≥ 10^6). CUDA is a platform that can successfully accommodate a large N-Body simulation, but it too benefits from clever algorithms, such as the tree-code. In this paper a black-box comparison is done between several CUDA enabled tree-codes on a single hardware configuration. The algorithms were subjected to a combination of different spatial configurations and opening angles θ (were applicable). The paper concludes with an overall ranking of the compared algorithms and a few interesting observations. |
